Karl M. Wantzen is professor for ecology at the Université François Rabelais at Tours, France. He is member of the Interdisciplinary Research Center for Cities, Territories, Environment and Society (CITERES-CNRS UMR 7324), and lectures on water-related issues in the Engineering Course GAE-IMA (in french) and the International Research MSc. Course M2RI-PSURP.
He is also guest professor at the MSc./PhD. course in Ecology and Conservation of Biodiversity at the Federal University of Mato Grosso, Brazil.
In Mai 2013 the Unesco Chair "Fleuve et Patrimoine - River Culture" was established. Head of the Chair is Prof. Dr. Karl Matthias Wantzen.
